reCREATE Founder and Director:  Donna Sangwin

I am someone who for a long time has observed a disconnect between the education system and the business community.  People in the business community were willing to help the schools - but they had no idea how they could help.  Schools often talked to the parents of their students - but rarely did their reach go beyond that.  Perfectly good and interesting materials were being tossed, and schools were always looking for new ways to teach, while at the same time budgets were shrinking.

My children are small, and the disposable consumption based values we were teaching them seemed wrong.  Could I sit back and pretend I didn't notice we were not taking very good care of our natural resources and our earth?  Is it possible that I could make a difference?  I decided yes, anyone who cares enough can make a difference.

ReCREATE's Difference  - We will likely divert about 70 tons of waste from entering our local landfill this year.

Other tidbits about me?

I used to sell national advertising for Business Journals.

I landed the single largest grant at Capital Public Radio (It launched the Healthcare Report) just before leaving to start reCREATE.

I drive a hybrid.

I drink tap water.

I take my own bags to the store... and if I forget them - I do without.

My kids are daily inspiration to take reCREATE to a much bigger level.
