After over six months of research, reCREATE
was founded in February, 2008, by Donna Sangwin.
So just who is this Donna?
I am the mother of two small
children and have been married for 13 years.
I am a person that believes if people follow their passion the rest will fall into
place... of course having a background that includes skills that translate into making your dream a reality help!
My passion for the environment
is strong.
I want to help Roseville
and the Sacramento region be an even more vibrant and green-thinking
area.
I believe that all people
should have access to the arts, and that affordable programs like reCREATE are an excellent way to have the community work
together.
Prior to starting reCREATE, I held positions with American City
Business Journals and Capital Public Radio.
I began my career in media in Austin, Texas, with
the Austin Business Journal, as Director of Advertising. After a increasing advertising sales by 84%, I
was given the opportunity to come back to California, to head up the advertising department of the San Francisco Business
Times. Again, our sales soared, with an increase of over a million dollars in the first year I managed the team.
In 2000, I was selected to be a National Sales Manager for the West Coast, representing all 70 Business Journals, and
managing key accounts such as Microsoft, Verizon Wireless and Washington Mutual.
As Capital Public
Radio, I worked with local and national businesses to help them leverage the powerful audience of listeners, while securing
monetary support for the public radio station. I secured a significant grant from California Healthcare Foundation
that led the launch of the Healthcare Report.
Why am I doing this? Simply, for my kids.
We don't have the luxury of time to continue down the current path of waste and I don't want to look back at them
and apologize. I want to to be able to say I was working to make a change."
I drive a hybrid car,
drink water from my tap, and try to find ways to reduce my carbon footprint.
I want to help Roseville and the Sacramento region be
an even more vibrant and green-thinking area.
